Bosnia and Herzegovina is represented internationally by its national football team, governed by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Association. This organization joined FIFA in 1996 and joined UEFA two years later.
The team's greatest achievement came in 2014, when they confidently finished first in their qualifying group, securing direct entry to the World Cup held in Brazil. During the tournament, the team suffered losses to Argentina and Nigeria, but managed to defeat Iran. However, this did not allow them to advance from their group, and they finished third. This was the only major tournament the team competed in.
As of April 1, 2026, the team is ranked 65th in the FIFA World Cup rankings.
