BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys or Beyond The Scene, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. The group consists of seven members: RM, the leader, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. In July 2017, they updated their official logo and changed their English name to Beyond The Scene.
BTS rose to global popularity with the release of their second studio album, Wings, which remained the most successful of their career until January 2018. The album helped the group win the Artist of the Year award at the prestigious Mnet Asian Music Awards. In 2017, BTS established themselves as one of the leading Korean groups on the global stage, winning Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards. Their EP, Love Yourself: Her, peaked at number seven on the US Billboard 200, the highest ever for a Korean act on the chart. The singles "DNA" and "MIC Drop" were certified gold by the RIAA, making BTS the first Korean act to achieve this. Thanks to their numerous records, the group won Artist of the Year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards for the second year in a row. Since their debut, BTS has sold over 5 million records worldwide. In April 2020, they became the best-selling artist in South Korean history.
