England national football team

The England national football team represents the country internationally, participating in matches and tournaments. Its activities are overseen by the Football Association of England, the oldest in the world. Founded in 1863, it joined FIFA in 1905 and then became a member of UEFA in 1954.

The England national team, along with Scotland, is considered one of the oldest national football teams in the world. England played their first international match against Scotland in 1872. Beginning in 1883, England participated in the British Home Championship, the first international tournament for national teams. During the competition's existence, England set a record, winning 54 matches.
