Japan national football team

The Japan national football team represents the country internationally, participating in various tournaments and competitions under the auspices of the Japan Football Association.

The team has no official nickname, but is often referred to by the name of its head coach. For example, during Takeshi Okada's tenure, the team was known as "Okada Japan." In recent years, the team has been nicknamed the "Blue Samurai," although the media often uses the current coach's name, "Moriyasu Japan."

Japan is considered the most successful Asian football team, having won four Asian Cup titles. The team also reached the round of 16 at the 2002, 2010, and 2018 World Cups. In 2001, the Japanese team also reached the final of the Confederations Cup.
