Jose Carreras

Jose Carreras, a famous opera singer from Spain (Catalan by birth), first appeared on stage at the age of 11. Having started his career as a lyrical tenor, he went through a serious ordeal — leukemia in 1988. After his recovery, Carreras changed the direction of his work and began to perform more dramatic tenor roles. He achieved significant success, especially in the works of Verdi, Puccini and Donizetti, having performed over 60 different roles in total.
