Placido Domingo

Placido Domingo is an outstanding Spanish singer and conductor in the opera world. Originally known as a lyric-dramatic tenor, since 2009 he has also performed baritone roles. He currently holds the position of General Director of the Los Angeles Opera.

For more than five decades, Placido Domingo has performed on world stages, bringing to life 150 leading roles in opera — more than any other performer of this genre. During his career, he spent over 300 evenings at the conductor's desk and participated in more than 3,900 performances. Domingo has recorded over 100 albums, including complete opera performances, solo performances and duets. He opened seasons at the famous Metropolitan Opera no less than 21 times, surpassing Enrico Caruso's record.
