The Saudi Arabian football team represents the country on the international stage, participating in matches and tournaments under the auspices of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, the country's governing body for football.
The Federation became part of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation in 1956. The national team played its first official match on October 18, 1957, a 1-1 draw with Lebanon at the Pan Arab Games. In 1975, Saudi Arabia first qualified for the Asian Cup, and in 1976, it qualified for the 1978 World Cup.
The team has won the Asian Cup three times (in 1984, 1988, and 1996) and reached the final three more times. The Saudi national team has participated in the final stages of the FIFA World Cup six times, from 1994 to 2022. They have also won the Arab Cup of Nations twice and the Gulf Cup of Nations three times.
Fans often refer to the team as "the Falcons" or "the Greens," and are sometimes referred to as "the Asian Brazilians." The national team plays its home games at the King Fahd International Stadium in the country's capital, Riyadh.
As of April 3, 2025, the Saudi Arabian national team is ranked 58th in the FIFA World Rankings.
